![]() | Welcome to Rebuilding Hollers Foundation |
In honor of our beautiful friends at Project 32 that have stood beside us the entire time!
Gary & Heather Pigg have brought endless supplies, shared our stories with endless members of their community and helped us tremendously every single step of the way. Gary's first trip with supplies was on October 3, they sponsored five PODS storage units in the first 7 days to get the supplies out of the elements while we were still in the parking lot, and then brought shelving units when we shifted into the warehouse. Gary has brought his trailer full of supplies at least once, every single week AND organized and hauled an insane Holiday Toy Extravaganza to West Yancey Fire Department. Gary with Project 32 did all of this while also organizing his crews to bring campers to our neighbors with Operation Helo.
Gary's commitment to our community has allowed us to dream big at what we can accomplish here in Yancey & Mitchell County because he also understands the scope of the work that needs to happen & is committed to helping us do it! This isn't a small project... It's going to take an Army! And we have an inside with Gary & Heathers son, Davis our beloved Angel of Project 32.
Follow along as we help our neighbors with their rebuilding PROJECTS
The hardest part of rebuilding is just getting started...
Figuring out how to properly put a property back together, and what materials are needed to make it happen.
Never mind when your entire life washed down the mountain, insurance & fema denied you any monetary assistance and you spent your savings the last four months just to keep a safe roof over your families head while fighting all the battles.
Being able to afford the building material is a massive obstacle, finding a knowledgeable and reliable contractor is another obstacle. We need licensed and insured local men to help us put our neighbors back together.
If you are a local contractor or subcontractor and would like to SIGN UP to be a preferred vendor with Rebuilding Hollers Foundation, we would be so very thankful to hear from you!
Our Current Project Schedule
Project # 1
My amazing friend experienced tremendous loss when two gentle creeks became one massive river the morning of September 27, 2024. The post office next to him floated away and two walls of his building were blown out by the force of the water.
My friend was one of the first ones determined to build back exactly at the same time God sent us a load of materials. We have been so thankful to stand beside him and make sure he has the building materials, tools, and temporary heat sources to rebuild not only his home, but his entire business.
Project #1 is a full rebuild. The block structure was stable enough on two sides to rebuild the two walls that blew out and start over with a clean slate. So far new block has been set, fresh concrete has been poured, half the windows and framing have been set. Electrical has been started. Need plumbing roughed in. Get building out of the tree.
We still have a long way to go, the current materials needs include:
- Plumbing
- Insulation
- Windows
- Sheetrock
- Electrical Fixtures
- Plumbing Fixtures
- Duck work for furnace
- Flooring
- Metal Roofing & Gutters
- Siding
- Grading
We are so very proud of our friend for being committed to rebuilding his life. We are honored to stand beside him and supply him with the next item that he needs to reach that goal. Thank you for helping us do that!
We have a ton of projects already underway & will continue to update whats happening here so you can keep up with our progress!
Thank you so very much for helping us help our neighbors!
