The hardest part of rebuilding is just getting started...
Figuring out how to properly put your property back together, and what materials are needed to make it happen.
Never mind when your entire life washed down the mountain, insurance & fema denied you any monetary assistance and you spent all of your savings since September 27, 2024 just to keep a safe roof over your families head while fighting all these battles.
Being able to afford the building material is a massive obstacle, finding a knowledgeable and reliable contractor is another obstacle.
We need licensed and insured local men to help us put our neighbors back together. If you are a local contractor or subcontractor and would like to SIGN UP to be a preferred vendor with Rebuilding Hollers Foundation, we would be so very thankful to hear from you! Email Us
We have 385 of projects already underway & will continue to update whats happening here so you can keep up with our progress!
Here's a few of our Current Projects!
Project # 1
Our neighbor experienced tremendous loss when two gentle creeks came together, unfortunatly our neighbors home sits at their intersection and the flood waters rose quickly. The post office next to them floated away and two walls of their building were blown out by the force of the water.
Our neighbor was the first one to decide to rebuild in the exact same spot, at exactly at the same time that God sent us a load of building materials. We are honored to stand with them to make sure they have the building materials, tools, and temporary heat sources to rebuild not only their home, but their entire small business that was washed away. This project is a full rebuild, the block structure was stable enough on two sides to rebuild the two walls that blew out and start over with a clean slate. So far new block has been set, fresh concrete has been poured, the framing, insulation, and sheetrock is done! Our neighbor is focused on the family living spaces first and then onto the business for finishing. Their materials list still includes.
- Flooring
- Siding / Stucco for block
- Grading / Property Debris Clean Up
Project # 5
Our neighbor experienced a complete loss the morning of September 27, 2024. Their family home and business was completely destroyed during the flood. This inspirational family was the first family in Yancey County to begin rebuilding at a new location, as their old property could never have a home on it again. As close as they are to being moved into their new home, there is still a lot to do and they very much need support. Our neighbor is a brick mason and his entire shop was also washed away with most of his tools and equipment. We would also like to assist them in the removal of their previous home, as it will be important to close that chapter once they are all moved into their new home.
