The damage from Hurricane Helene is widespread, with more than 578 projects that have requested assistance and are in immediate need of building materials and supplies in Yancey and Mitchell Counties alone. Our immediate focus is on providing critical materials, including roofing, plywood, lumber, insulation, sheetrock, spring boxes, wells, septic systems, plumbing and electrical to help families return HOME!
Urgent Needs
In addition to 51 homes that are a total loss, here are some of the most urgent repair needs:
- Roofing ($4,300): Enough for 44 homes
- Sheetrock ($3,500 - $5,100) Enough for 43 homes
- Insulation ($1,200 - $2,800) Enough for 35 homes
- Lumber ($1,000 +): Enough for 32 homes & 45 barns / shops
- Concrete Blocks ($5,000 - $10,000): Enough for 28 homes & 17 retaining walls
- Water Filtration Systems ($2,000): Enough for 100+ homes
- Septic Tanks ($4,500 - $25,000): Enough for 17 homes
- Well Drilling - ($8,000 - $10,000): Enough for 12 homes
